A Grammar Of Akkadian, John Huehnergard, Harvard Semitic Studies. Condition is rather shabby, with water damage to pages and missing portions of the cover. However, the text remains legible and all pages are in place. A great bargain on a book that typically sells for $+ when new!Seller Rating: % positive.   out of 5 stars Review of Akkadian Grammar. Reviewed in the United States on J Verified Purchase. This grammar is quite complete, but for a novice self learner, its a little daunting and requires some effort on the part of the student. There are no answers to the exercises, which would help immensely if they existed/5(4).

Huehnergard is probably best known for his A Grammar of Akkadian, now in its third edition. He is the author or editor of 9 other books, a special issue of the Journal of Language Contact, and over articles and a dozen reviews on topics spanning the languages and cultures of the ancient Near East, particularly focused on categorization. The first comparative grammar of the Semitic languages, by H. Zimmern, was published a hundred years ago and the last original work of this kind was issued in Russian in by B.M. Grande. The present grammar, designed to come out in the centenary of the completion of Zimmern's work, fills thus a gap.
